Direct Hair Transplant

How Does Direct Hair Transplant Work?

Some of the less common hair transplant procedures may be hard to understand and one of them is the direct hair transplant. This is one of the least common of all hair transplant procedures because it needs to have a lot of work and not everyone is a candidate for it. When you are receiving direct hair transplant you are undertaking a service that requires nothing from a donor or the like. Instead the doctor is using the hair that you have and moving it around.

Direct hair transplant is a marvel of modern medicine for the most part. Rather then looking for a donor that has the same color and shade of hair you are actually helping yourself by allowing the doctor to take healthy hair from another source on the body and moving to the area where you will grow hair again after the thinning has started. This is one of the few procedures in the hair transplant world that takes only a few sessions and is one of the least invasive of them all.

There is the matter of having enough hair for a direct hair transplant. In most cases the hair is harvested from another part of the head where healthy hair is already growing. With that in mind you need to understand that this hair is being taken a piece at a time and then grafted into the thinning area of the scalp to give the area a more full look with the hopes that the new hair will take root and continue to grow.

The problem is that not everyone in the world is a candidate for this type of procedure. In most cases the people who are just showing the first signs of baldness are the only people who are successful with this direct hair transplant procedure. This is due to the fact that they have plenty of other hair that can be used for the harvest without having to look for another source, such as a donor.

There are times when the doctor will look to other parts of the body for hair to transplant. This is not all that common as the hair from the other parts of our body do not always grow to the same length and therefore could pose a problem. The doctor is the only one who can make the proper determination on this subject.

If you are thinking that a direct hair transplant is right for you then you need to consult with your doctor. They will take you through the steps that are taken with this procedure and tell you whether or not they believe it will be successful.
